Sporting KC announced on Monday that they have hired Kacie McDonnell as SKCTV’s new Network Host. Kacie McDonnell is best known as Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Aaron Murray’s now ex fiance, but she was also a KSHB-41 Action News Reporter.

McDonnell’s role as the Network Host will consist of her hosting the Sporting KC pregame and post game show, and also fill the role of side line reporter in all locally televised matches in 2015. As a side line reporter she will conduct interviews for the broadcasts during the games.

"“This is a dream come true,” McDonnell said. “I’ve always thought that if I could get a melting pot and throw sports, news and entertainment into it, I’d have my dream job. Now, I have that and I look forward to working with the SKCTV crew this coming season.”-Courtesy of Sam Kovzan of SportingKC.com"

McDonnell will continue working at KSHB-41 Action News alongside SKCTV.

McDonnell joins a mostly new broadcasting crew consisting of Nate Bukaty as the play by play guy, former Sporting KC Goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum as the color commentator, and the only returning member Jake Yadrich as the lead analyst.

Sporting KC parted ways with play by play man Callum Williams and color commentator Diego Gutierrez following the 2014 season.

McDonnell has some experience as a side line reporter as she filled that role during the 2013 NFL season for the Philadelphia Eagles.

She has less than three weeks to prepare for her role as SKCTV air their first broadcast on March 14th when Sporting KC take on FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium.

Sporting KC are scheduled to kick off their 2015 Major League Soccer season on March 8th against the New York Red Bulls at Sporting Park, but the game is nationally televised on Fox Sports 1 and wont be broadcast by SKCTV.

Sporting KC have enjoyed a fairly impressive and successful preseason so far. They opened the preseason with a 2-0 loss to the Portland Timbers.

They then started their three game unbeaten streak by beating FC Tucson 4-2 behind a three goal and one assist performance by Krisztian Nemeth, a 2-2 comeback draw against the Colorado Rapids, and most recently a 3-2 defeat of the Seattle Sounders.

Sporting KC will play Real Salt Lake on Wednesday, and if they win the game they will move on to the Championship game of the Desert Diamond Cup.

This preseason has already wrote many different story lines for Sporting KC including the emergence of Krisztian Nemeth, return from injury of Graham Zusi and Ike Opara, and the formation of the new SKCTV broadcast crew.

It looks to be a fun and exciting 2015 season as the new look Sporting KC compete in their first season in the Western Conference.
