3 Chiefs Most Likely to Be Traded This Offseason

With the Kansas City Chiefs needing to re-sign several key free agents like Chris Jones and Willie Gay Jr., don't be surprised if the Super Bowl champs trade these three players this offseason.

2. WR Kadarius Toney

Kadarius Toney's NFL career has been fascinating to watch, to say the least.

Drafted 20th overall by the New York Giants in 2021, it didn't take the former Florida Gator long to garner national attention. In Week 4 of his rookie campaign, Toney put the football world on notice by turning 10 receptions into 189 yards against the Dallas Cowboys, setting a new Giants rookie receiving record.

Unfortunately, Toney hasn't come close to reaching those heights since then. He's been injured for the majority of his NFL career, missing 19 games over the last three seasons. There was optimism that he could turn things around when he was traded to Kansas City partway through the 2022 campaign, but that hasn't been the case.

In two seasons with the Chiefs, Toney has tallied 41 receptions for 340 yards and three touchdowns across 20 games. He's had some bright spots, such as his record-breaking 65-yard punt return at Super Bowl LVII, but there have also been plenty of lows. For example, he was a scratch against the 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII, highlighting exactly where he stands in the organization.

Toney, 25, is still young enough to turn his career around, but that might not happen with the Chiefs. They don't need the off-field distractions he brings while his health issues don't do him any favors, either. A trade this offseason would be mutually beneficial for both sides.
