The NFL Draft is getting closer, so hopefully this 2018 NFL Mock Draft got you ready for the real deal.

For this being a mock draft in which the KC Chiefs went with the best available player, it actually didn’t turn out half bad. Obviously taking a running back in the third round probably wouldn’t sit well with Chiefs fans, but it could have been worse.

Imagining a running back like Kerryon Johnson joining Kareem Hunt in the Chiefs backfield is exciting to think about. With so many other needs, however, there’s little chance that actually happens.

After three straight offensive picks, the Chiefs landed four straight defensive players and then rounded things out with another wide receiver. Adding two wide receivers in this draft probably isn’t the most realistic scenario either, but at least the second one was a much later addition.

We all know that the Chiefs need to heavily rebuild their defense and while this mock draft saw them adding defensive talent in the fourth round at the earliest, the names they got weren’t awful by any means. These players could come in and make an impact at some point for sure.

The draft is less than a month away now, so we’ll have at least one more mock draft before the big event takes place! Draft season is one of my favorite sports times of the year and even without a first round pick, I’m excited to see how this year’s draft shakes out for the Kansas City Chiefs.
