After a rough start to the season, the Kansas City Royals are sitting with a .500 record at 6-6. They swept an opponent for the first time this season and while the offense still has looked flat, the starting pitching has been phenomenal.

If the starting pitching can continue to throw the way they have been in the first two weeks of the season, then watch out American League, because the Royals will surely be a playoff contender come the end of the season. The only pitcher to not look good so far is Jason Hammel, who has yet to make it past five innings.

The rest of the rotation though… Wowzers. They’ve been lights out. This could be just what the team needs to get themselves back to the playoffs, but if the offense doesn’t start picking up some slack, then it doesn’t matter how good the starters are.

Hey, even the bullpen didn’t look bad in this most recent series. The Royals only gave up three runs total, but the low opponent average was mainly due to the starters going deep into games.

With the San Francisco Giants coming to town, this upcoming series means something. It’ll be the first time these two units have met since the 2014 World Series and Royals fans will be loud this week.

While I sincerely hope Royals fans won’t boo Bumgarner, I’m not going to hold my breath on that one. Sports fans aren’t forgiving, but try not to be “that guy” please.

Bumgarner did something that’s never been done and hopefully Royals fans can respect him for that. Plus, the Royals won in 2015, so all was right in the world. Had they won the World Series in 2014, I highly doubt they’d have won it again the next year.

We’re two weeks into the 2017 MLB season and the Kansas City Royals are now technically an “average” team with their 6-6 record. All that matters is winning series and right now the boys in blue are 2-2 in their first four series.

Fingers crossed that Kansas City can stay hot and sweep their final series of this home stand!
