The 2017 NFL Draft is still months away, but the KC Chiefs know what positions need to be addressed the most. Running back is most certainly one of those positions, and Leonard Fournette is one of the best available in this draft.

Arguably one of the biggest names in the 2017 NFL Draft is none other than Leonard Fournette, a running back out of LSU.

Fournette tore it up during his first two years with the Tigers, rushing for over 1,000 yards. He has totaled 3,830 yards off of 616 attempts and 40 trips into the end zone.

To say that Fournette isn’t one of the best running backs in the draft is ludicrous. The guy will be an absolute stud at the position and will give whatever NFL team drafts him some great productivity at running back for years to come.

Fournette’s final season at LSU wasn’t as great as his first two years, mainly due to injury. He only played in seven games during his 2016 campaign.

What I find to be most impressive about Fournette is just how dominant he is on the field. Hell, his draft profile on NFL.com compares him to freakin’ Bo Jackson. Being compared to Bo Jackson is no fluke, and Fournette will definitely be lighting it up once he gets the handoff.

The chances of Fournette falling to the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft aren’t high. Next to Dalvin Cook, Fournette is the best running back on the board, and teams are going to be psyched to snatch him up.

On the other hand though, running back isn’t the position that it once was, and this year’s running back class is deep. Teams might pass on Fournette to get a more valuable position, so maybe he could end up sliding down a bit.

NFL.com listed several analysts’ mock drafts, and the earliest Fournette is off the board in any of these is with the fifth overall pick to the Jaguars. One has him going sixth to the Jets, and the other two have him landing with the Panthers at pick eight.

So, eighth overall is the longest Fournette lasted in those particular mocks. It’s not surprising when you look at his highlights and his stats and just know what type of effect he can have during a game.

The Chiefs could really use a new running back with Jamaal Charles likely done in Kansas City and with Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West not panning out as fans had hoped in 2016.

Could Leonard Fournette be a fit for the Kansas City Chiefs? Would you want to see them trade up to get him or should they wait to land a running back later on?
