Kansas City Chiefs 2021 New Year’s Resolutions – No. 4: Trade for or sign an impact player

The Chiefs are going to have to part ways with some fan favorites this offseason but they can make up for it by doing their best to bring in an even better replacement. I recently floated an unlikely idea in trading for J.J. Watt, but wouldn’t that be awesome to see him in a Chiefs uniform?

Watt is unhappy with the Texans and isn’t up to be apart of yet another rebuild. He wants to finish his career with a contender and the Chiefs should do what they can to get him to Kansas City for 2021.

If it’s not Watt, find someone either on the trading block or the free-agent market who could come in and excite this fan base. The defense definitely needs some fine-tuning this offseason and Veach will have his work cut out for him in trying to swing some kind of a deal.

Kansas City Chiefs 2021 New Year’s Resolutions – No. 3: Find Watkins’ replacement

I just mentioned how the Chiefs are going to have to let some guys walk this offseason and unless he’s willing to sign for not a ton of money, Sammy Watkins will be in that group. Watkins’ three-year deal is up after this season and while he’s been straight fire in the playoffs, the regular season production hasn’t been all that impressive.

This resolution could actually be linked with No. 4 and/or No. 5, as the Chiefs will turn to one of those aspects to find the next WR2 in Kansas City. There’s also a chance they give the job to Mecole Hardman, but fans would feel more comfortable knowing there’s another option in house.

Having a legitimate No. 2 wide receiver behind Tyreek Hill is crucial and the Chiefs need to make sure they do all they can to find that guy in 2021.
