2. Travis Kelce

I really want to have a 1A and 1B, but I figured people would get mad at me for that, so I’ll put Travis Kelce at No. 2 this week. He, like Tyreek Hill, has appeared on these lists quite a bit this season and that’s because he’s the best tight end in the entire league and it isn’t even close.

I discussed last week how Kelce should be in the MVP conversations, but with him playing tight end, I understand there’s a 0% chance of that happening. He should, however, be a strong contender to win Offensive Player of the Year because Kelce is absolutely insane and he’s the difference-maker on this offense for sure.

Kelce finished Sunday night’s thrilling victory with eight grabs for 127 yards and the eventual game-winning touchdown in the final minute of action. How Kelce got so wide open on that play, I’ll never know. One thing is for sure though, Travis Kelce is the best in the biz at his position and there’s no debating that.

1. Patrick Mahomes

I debated switching the top two spots so that Kelce could be No. 1 this week, but Patrick Mahomes continued to cement why he should win MVP this year with his performance. While Kelce got wide open and had the touchdown grab, Mahomes had to scramble around and buy some time in order to make it happen. It was an impressive play from the Chiefs quarterback.

Mahomes went 34-of-45 for 328 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in his second crack at the Raiders. He had to put up video game-like numbers because his defense was doing him no favors (did you notice how no defensive players made this list?). Yes, Mahomes Magic is fun to watch, but we learned in the 2018 season that the Chiefs can’t win playoff games without a good defense.

Despite Mahomes and the Chiefs being as good as they are, they really haven’t been in true primetime games this season. It was nice to finally see Mahomes get back in the spotlight this week and it reminded NFL fans everywhere that he’s the clear choice for MVP.

Do you think any other Chiefs deserved to be mentioned on this week’s list of star performances?
