Kansas City Chiefs who won’t be back in 2021 — No. 4: Demarcus Robinson

The wide receiver situation that the Chiefs were supposed to be in last offseason is now likely going to occur this offseason and that’s that they’ll be losing two of their main receivers. Demarcus Robinson hit free agency last year and most people thought he was for sure a goner, but to the surprise of many, Robinson didn’t get much buzz on the free agent market.

Due to the lack of buzz, Robinson re-signed with the Chiefs on a one-year deal. While the Chiefs probably could re-sign Robinson again this offseason, they honestly shouldn’t. It’s not that Robinson is bad, but he’s been jumped by Mecole Hardman on the depth chart (and even Byron Pringle could leapfrog him by season’s end), so KC would be better off saving their money and getting a wide receiver in the draft instead.

Robinson was off to a slow start this season, but has looked improved, finding the end zone in each of the last two games. Prior to those performances, he had just 123 yards and zero touchdowns, so it has been nice to see Robinson finding pay dirt.

Drops have always been an issue for Robinson and it’s been a frustrating road for him as a Chief. He’s a good player and deserves a chance to be a WR3 or even WR2 for a team who needs a receiver, but his time in Kansas City should be coming to an end season.
