Kansas City Royals: What if Royals had cheated in 2014-2015?
By Travis Neely
This now gets to the “so what” of the deep dive into Game 7.
The Kansas City Royals would have been busted just like the Astros, thus they – along with their fans – would have been forced to face the music in 2016 as they should.

Players like Hosmer would have hit a homer in this game in the first inning, but then would forever be labeled a cheater just like Jose Altuve. Ned Yost and Dayton Moore would be suspended and the late David Glass would have had to do damage control. The whole situation would have tainted what the Royals accomplished.
Meanwhile, being a Royals fan, it would have been tough. Do you take pride in winning or does it cause a bit of disappointment in the franchise that Kansas City calls their own? Or does it matter at all?
After all the commissioner of the game referred to a World Series Championship Trophy as simply a “piece of metal” before he realized he was a mistake. As fans, would we object to other teams requesting the Royals players to give back their rings?
As fans it would have been nice to see a 2014 World Series Championship flag flying at Kauffman Stadium, but not if it had played out like this theoretical situation. I’d hate to see players offering to give back their rings like Ken Giles did just.
Yes, everyone needs to move on and just forget about the Astros, but it’s going to be hard to this season. Luckily the Royals didn’t stoop to the level of the Astros, which makes the 2015 World Series that much sweeter.
