Once again the Chiefs defense gave up run play after run play in their match-up against the Lions.

Putting the tanking Miami Dolphins aside, the Chiefs currently have the worst run defense in the NFL. Giving up a league high 5.9 average yards per carry along with 149.8 average yards per game, the Colts run first offense will looking to be a force in the ground game keeping Mahomes off the field as much as possible.

With talented running backs Marlon Mack and Nyheim Hines leading the charge out of the backfield, The Chiefs will need to yet prove they can slow this duo down. The Colts are currently averaging 132.5 (4.6 per carry) yards a game on the ground, which ranks seventh in the league. .

Forcing the Colts to become one dimensional behind the arm of Jacoby Brissett should weight heavy on slowing down the run game. The fourth year quarterback was forced to step in and take the lead job for Indy since the surprising retirement of Andrew Luck.

More from KC Kingdom

Fresh out of a four game suspension, former Jet and Cowboy cornerback Morris Claiborne will make his Chiefs regular season debut.

As most Chiefs fans know, Kansas City is lacking in the cornerback position. Just weeks prior to the regular season, Kansas City added Morris Claiborne to their secondary depth for much needed help.

Claiborne has played in over 75 games games during his seven years in the NFL. During those years, he has recorded seven interception and deflected a total of 49 passes. Claiborne’s veteran presence on the field will help this Chiefs defense in the pass game.

CONCLUSION

The Colts coming in with a .500 and the Chiefs back home with an undefeated record. Last time these two teams faced off with in the divisional round of the playoff last post season during a blizzard. Weather conditions will be much different this time and Indy will be led by a new quarterback.
