Kansas Football Rumors: Who will take over for David Beaty?
By John McCarty
Another name I’d keep an eye on is Scott Satterfield, currently the head coach at Appalachian State.
Three bowl victories, a short stay in the top 25 and back to back conference championships headline the resume for Satterfield.
Scott Satterfield‘s first season at Appalachian State was the program’s last at the FCS level, so Satterfield has been a part of truly building a program. For a program that went 4-8 in his first year to now standing 6-2 coming off the back to back conference championships and bowl victories while averaging ten wins per season for the last three, it’s difficult to be more impressive than Satterfield has.
At 45 years old, Satterfield could be another candidate to have the program building mentality needed to help the Jayhawks on the right path. However, the questions with these two candidates and why Les Miles may indeed get the job is this: There is a legitimate question if either Brown or Satterfield would take the Kansas job.
Both are winning and doing well where they are at, and both would likely be attractive candidates and far better options than Kansas. Will Satterfield be a candidate for the Maryland job?
Another concern, perhaps more with Satterfield is he’s never coached west of Ohio. He’s completely unfamiliar, to a degree with the midwest.
