Week 8 – Kansas City Chiefs vs Denver Broncos

Monday, October 20th, 2017 (7:30 CST kickoff on ESPN)

After a tough loss, the Chiefs have a mini-bye to prepare for their next opponent in the Denver Broncos, who they’ll square off against on Monday Night Football. I mentioned awhile back how the Chiefs would be on primetime television a lot this year, and by week eight, we’ll have seen them in five primetime games! That’s insane. People are actually going to be sick of watching the Chiefs in the big lights!

A few seasons ago, facing the Broncos would have been scary to think about. They ALWAYS had the Chiefs’ number (much like Kansas City has the Raiders’ number at the moment), but that changed near the end of the 2015 season when the Chiefs demolished the Donkeys in Denver.

Part of Denver’s problem this season is that their offense is going to be a joke.

Of course, the Broncos would go on to win the Super Bowl that year behind one of the best defenses we’ve seen in a long time, but I digress.

The Broncos are going to be a popular pick to finish in the basement of the AFC West, which is strange considering how they dominated the division from 2011-2015. My, how the times have changed!

Part of Denver’s problem this season is that their offense is going to be a joke. They’re relying on either Trevor Siemian or Paxton Lynch (remember when Chiefs fans wanted him?) to lead the offense and neither guy is going to instill fear into the opposition.

This game is also at Arrowhead on a Monday night and we know Chiefs Kingdom will be fired up.

This game is also at Arrowhead on a Monday night and we know Chiefs Kingdom will be fired up. Oh, did I forget to mention that this will be Jamaal Charles‘ first game back to Kansas City in another team’s uniform? Will he get cheered or booed? The suspense is killing me.

I don’t see this being one of the exciting Chiefs/Broncos games we used to be spoiled to.

Prediction: Kansas City gets back in the win column. They smack the Broncos around on the field and all is right in the world. 34-14, Chiefs.

Standout Player: Travis Kelce will continue his success against Denver and will rack up over 150 yards receiving with multiple touchdowns. Ride the pony, ride the pony!
