Week 7 – Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders

Thursday, October 19th, 2017 (7:25 CST kickoff on CBS/NFL Network)

One of the most hyped up Thursday night games a season ago was the one between the Chiefs and the Raiders at Arrowhead Stadium late in the season. This time, the battle will take place earlier and it’ll be in the Black Hole.

The Raiders were everyone’s “surprise” playoff pick last year, but that won’t be the case in 2017. Most people are going to drool over the Raiders and say they’ll be a lock to win the AFC West. It’s a little annoying considering the Raiders have only beaten the Chiefs once since Derek Carr‘s rookie year.

Any NFL fan knows that whoever is the home team for Thursday Night Football has a huge advantage.

That one victory for Carr came on Thursday Night Football back in 2014, where he led the Raiders to their first win of the season. The team had been 0-10 at that point.

Since that game, however, Carr and his “on the rise” Raiders have been terrible against Kansas City, getting swept by them in each of the last two seasons. It only makes sense that the NFL would throw them a bone here and give them the home game for Thursday Night Football.

The Chiefs have a lot of odds stacked against them for this one and it’s hard for me to pick them to reign victorious.

Any NFL fan knows that whoever is the home team for Thursday Night Football has a huge advantage. Last season, the home team went 12-6 on the Thursday night stage, with the Chiefs being one of those 12 wins.

If this had been at Arrowhead, I’d easily have given it to the Chiefs, but it’s a Thursday Night Football game on the road against a team who is due for a victory against Kansas City. The Chiefs have a lot of odds stacked against them for this one and it’s hard for me to pick them to reign victorious.

Prediction: Carr gets his second win against the Chiefs, but it’ll still be a close game. 14-10, Raiders.

Standout Player: Justin Houston has another multi-sack game and tries to give the Chiefs a chance to win this game. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be.
