Tyler Bray – Quarterback

That’s right Kansas City Chiefs fans, Tyler Bray is still your top backup quarterback right now. Of course, we all expect that to change at some point. However, whether or not that point comes in the 2017 season is very much a question mark right now.

Now, we have never seen Tyler Bray play a single down of real life football in the NFL. Not one. However, for whatever reason, the Chiefs have seen fit to keep him around over guys like Chase Daniel, Aaron Murray, and Kevin Hogan. There has to be some reason for that. Bray has even earned a second contract in KC.

Tyler Bray was highly touted headed into his final year at Tennessee, but a number of issues combined to make him an undrafted free agent. However, his big arm was still a coveted asset by many scouts in the league, including the Chiefs.

Unfortunately, I can’t tell you one way or the other as to what to expect from Tyler Bray. All we know is that he currently holds the top backup job, and the Chiefs clearly like something about him. Until the depth chart changes on the field, this is all we know.

Prediction

I think that Tyler Bray will lose the top backup job to Patrick Mahomes. If there is an opportunity to get the rookie some playing time this year, the Chiefs will jump at it. However, if there is a situation where they need someone to start for Alex Smith for a couple of games, I think Kansas City will actually turn to Bray for that role due to his familiarity of the offense.
