The Kansas City Royals started this season off horrendously, but somehow, someway, have clawed their way back to .500. A lot were non-believers, but the Royals making another run with this current group is definitely a possibility.

Okay, I’ll admit it. I was one of the many who thought that the Kansas City Royals were long out of any type of contention weeks ago. Could you really blame me and everyone else who thought that way though? At one point, the Royals were ten games under .500 and the offense looked awful.

Now, however, the team has fought their way back and are sitting at .500 with a few weeks to go until the All-Star break. This is exactly what this team and the fans needed when thinking about the future after 2017.

The fact of the matter is that the Royals aren’t going to be able to keep everyone. In fact, they’ll be lucky if they can even keep one of their key free agents this offseason.

That’s what makes this season so important. It’s the last hurrah with this current group of guys. This group is one that Royals fans have grown to know and love, and fans are obviously wanting this group to go out as winners.

With the Royals’ recent winning ways, it’s not a crazy thought for the Royals to become contenders for the playoffs. The boys in blue are three games behind the Indians in the division and only two games back of the second Wild Card spot. It’s still way too early to keep up with the standings every day, but the Royals are most definitely in the thick of things.

Things started going Kansas City’s way when they went 2-2 against the Houston Astros, who are arguably the best team in the entire league. From there, they went 7-2 on their west coast road trip and then won their fourth straight series when they hosted Boston earlier this week.

To sum up – The Kansas City Royals have turned things around and are red hot. Fans were waiting for this team to figure it out all season long and now it appears they finally might have.

If the Royals continue to win big games and are leading the division at the deadline, maybe they’ll opt to add a few guys. This would be an entirely different story than what we were talking about just weeks ago with the big names potentially being sent off to other teams.

With this being the last season for guys like Lorenzo Cain, Eric Hosmer, and Mike Moustakas to all play together, it makes perfect sense for the Kansas City Royals to get hot in the middle of the season and go on an amazing stretch of wins. Let’s keep it going boys!
