As mentioned on the intro slide, the KC Royals have had minimal success against the Indians recently. Even in 2015, a year in which the Royals won the World Series, they only went 10-9 against Cleveland.

More from Kansas City Royals

Simply put – The Indians know how to win against the Royals and they displayed that last year, winning 14 out of 19 games against Kansas City. While Cleveland isn’t off to a fantastic start, they still have a winning record and are leading the American League Central.

At 15-12, the Indians will be looking to break away from the rest of the Central here pretty soon. They took hold of the division last year and then waltzed their way into the American League Championship Series where they beat the Toronto Blue Jays.

This is a big series for both sides. For the Royals, it’s all about climbing out of their “nine under .500” hole that they dug themselves into and for the Indians, it’s about trying to grasp the top of the division and not let go. Plus they could kick dirt on the weakest team in the division at the moment in the process.

While the White Sox series was disappointing, the Royals showed small glimpses of being the old team we all know and love. They shouldn’t be losing to a rebuilding White Sox team though and that’s what scares me.

Fingers crossed for a competitive series at the K!
