JASON VARGAS

Jason Vargas will look to continue being the surprise pitcher of the season on Saturday when he gets ready to take the mound against Cleveland.

Vargas is coming off a great game against the White Sox where he pitched six innings of one run baseball while only allowing five hits. Vargas struck out only one batter and did walk three guys, but he was still able to receive the W, as his offense actually helped him out!

As of now, Vargas has a sparkling ERA of 1.42 with a 4-1 record and 29 strikeouts to his name. If he continues to pitch this well and if the Royals continue to lose games, Vargas will be the biggest Royals name to watch during the trade deadline.

All contending teams want great pitchers and with the way Vargas is performing right now, who wouldn’t want him as their second or third starter during the playoffs? The Royals could get a real haul for him if they’re not contending in July.

Vargas has only had one bad outing so far this year and it came against the White Sox on the road. He only made it through five innings while giving up four runs (three earned) and allowing seven hits. That was his one bad performance this year and it still wasn’t awful honestly.

The point being is that Jason Vargas is the best player on this team right now and I don’t think that’s too crazy to say, do you?
