Kansas City Royals: Every Team Needs a Player Like Salvador Perez

Every Kansas City Royals game that ends in a win will have two things: An MVP and a Salvy Splash. Salvador Perez is a crucial player to Kansas City, on and off the field.

Whether it’s his postgame interviews or his smiles on the field, Salvador Perez has a character and an attitude that is priceless to any MLB player salary.

Along with his contagious happiness, Salvador Perez has three Rawlings Golden Glove Awards and three straight All-Star game appearances. As a catcher, Perez is one of the best currently playing in the league on both offense and defense, belting 22 home runs and batting  .247 last season.

Perez seems to always have a bright attitude no matter what happens during game time, which can neither be understated or overstated in value towards the KC Royals organization.

With the recent passing of Yordano Ventura, a positive attitude and a leading voice is what is needed in times like these, even if sometimes that voice is hard to understand.

In 2014, when the Royals finally made the playoffs ending a 29-year playoff drought it was Salvador Perez who carried them to victory in a thrilling Wild Card game against the Oakland Athletics, even though he had been hitless before that magical walk-off single.

During the 2015 playoffs, Perez helped keep the line moving whenever the Royals offense got into a groove. He even was named World Series MVP after the boys in blue won it all in five games.

Salvador Perez is a player of magnificent talent caliber, but he is also a convincing player with his attitude. He is a motivator, and a comedian, and I believe Salvy was the attitude that helped everyone on the team feel the championship fever.
