Kansas City Chiefs: Fresh Hot Takes From Sunday
By Ben Almquist
Second Down: Spencer Ware Is Better Than Jamaal Charles
People who are unaware of the Kansas City Chiefs running back situation got a huge surprise on Sunday. Without All-World back Jamaal Charles, many people figured the Chiefs were simply stuck. However, backup running back Spencer Ware turned in a huge day. Ware put up 70 yards and a rushing touchdown on just 11 carries (6.4 ypc). He also had 129 yards receiving.
Yes, the little known (outside of Kansas City) Spencer Ware was the Chiefs leading rusher and receiver. Oh, and he also happened to be the highest scoring Fantasy Football running back of the weekend. That, of course, sparked some huge reactions across Twitter. However, there was probably no take quite as hot as the declaration that Ware is better than Jamaal Charles.

Woo, feel the burn? Look, I love Spencer Ware as a running back in this offense. I even stated that the Chiefs should have put fellow backup Charcandrick West onto the trading block. However, let’s get real for a second. Jamaal Charles is one of the single-most dynamic running backs in NFL history. Spencer Ware has looked very good, but he has a ways to go before he hits that level.
