Starting Right Cornerback

The Kansas City Chiefs secondary is starting to scare me a little, especially at the #2 corner spot.  Thus far, Defensive Coordinator Bob Sutton hasn’t been able to find anyone who can fill that role suitably.  In fact, the options that have stepped out there so far have been pretty bad.

The good news here is the potential return of Philip Gaines.  It has been obvious for some time now that the Chiefs are putting a lot of faith in the ability of Gaines to start…and stay healthy.  Personally, I find that a bit risky and would like to see John Dorsey pursue a veteran cornerback after cuts are made.

The Chiefs have an excellent young playmaker in Marcus Peters on the left side, but opposing offenses will simply gameplan away from him in 2016 if there isn’t a right corner who is at least competent.  Kansas City needs to find an answer soon.
