Fourth Toughest Defense in 2016 – Carolina Panthers

The Panthers have owned the NFC South over the past few years, and their tremendous offensive and defensive efforts got them all the way to the Super Bowl last year.

Norman was a HUGE part of the Panthers’ defense, and him not being there will leave a hole in the Carolina secondary.

While we all wish they could have won the Super Bowl, they fell to the Denver Broncos, who we will get to much later on this list.

The Panthers have one of the biggest young stars in the game in Luke Kuechly and their defense has the ability to really stop opponents on big downs.

I would have liked to have put the Panthers higher on this list, but they lost star cornerback Josh Norman this past offseason to the Washington Redskins. Norman was a HUGE part of the Panthers’ defense (much like Smith was to the Chiefs’ defense), and him not being there will leave a hole in the Carolina secondary.

The Chiefs will see the Panthers in week ten of the regular season and it’s a road game. I imagine the Panther fans will be rowdy as can be, as these are two potential Super Bowl contenders. This game will be BIG and could end up coming down to whichever defense slips up first.

Next: At least they have their defense
