Now then, for the purposes of this piece, I did complete a ballot. I don’t like voting this early, and will likely submit one closer to the deadline as it becomes clearer, to me, who actually deserves to go, but here is who I voted for from the American League.

I think it’s awesome that Royals fans are voting, and voting a lot and I hope the Royals are heavily represented at the All-Star game, as they have several deserving candidates.

1b- Miguel Cabrera

2b- Jose Altuve

3b- Mike Moustakas

SS- Alcides Escobar

C-   Sal Perez

OF- Mike Trout, Lorenzo Cain and Adam Jones

DH- Kendrys Morales

A couple notes on my votes:

– No Alex Gordon, though I certainly think he’s earned consideration. There just seems like a number of guys who have out-performed him, even beyond the ones I’ve selected.

– I don’t necessarily think Morales deserves the starting designated hitter nod. Going on 2015 merit alone, I’d say Nelson Cruz or *gasp* Alex Rodriguez deserve the nod, however, I can’t make myself vote for known cheaters.

There absolutely is a silver-lining to what has become a mockery of the All-Star Game. Kansas City Royals fans care. I mean they really, really care.

So, yes, I voted pretty heavily in favor of the KC Royals. I think I can justify those picks, and even if there is some hometown bias involved, it’s nowhere near the Infante/Rios level of absurdity.

Before Sal Perez in 2014, the last time the Royals had a position player in the starting lineup was Jermaine Dye, in 2000 (I believe). Before that, you have to go back to the early 90’s and late 80’s when guys like Danny Tartabull and Bo Jackson were slugging their way into the lineup.

I think it’s awesome that Royals fans are voting, and voting a lo,t and I hope the Royals are heavily represented at the All-Star game, as they have several deserving candidates. So, don’t stop voting for those guys, but please, for the sake of integrity and Royals big-picture goals, vote for guys who will help the American League win.

Whether you agree with what I’ve said up to this point or not, I feel comfortable saying as Kansas City Royals fans, we all want another shot at that Commissioner’s Trophy, and would love another chance to rock Kauffman Stadium in October.
