The KC Chiefs are welcoming in the New Orleans Saints this Sunday and with that, comes future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees. Brees is 1-1 against Kansas City while with the Saints.

Drew Brees is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL right now and he’ll be visiting the Kansas City Chiefs in week seven. While the Chiefs have faced two really good quarterbacks this season, Brees is a special kind of talent in the pros.

For one, he’s always up for slinging the football and continues to be one of the top passers in the NFL each year. He tossed for 4,870 yards in 2015 with 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. The Saints went 7-9 for the second straight year, but Brees was one of the few bright spots on the team.

The Kansas City Chiefs saw a lot of Drew Brees early on in his career, as he was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the 2001 NFL Draft. He got better every year with the Chargers and went 12-4 in 2004, winning the Comeback Player of the Year Award.

He’s a Super Bowl champion, nine time Pro Bowler, and has the ability to carry his team to victory every week.

After the 2005 season, Brees injured his shoulder and signed with the New Orleans Saints after the Chargers decided to proceed with Philip Rivers as their quarterback.

Chiefs fans were happy to see Brees leave the AFC West and move to an entirely different conference all together.

To say that Brees made the right decision would be an understatement, as he hasn’t missed a beat as the starting quarterback in the Big Easy. He won a Super Bowl with the team in the 2009 season after beginning the season with a 13-0 record.

The former Purdue Boilermaker has thrown for over 4,000 yards every year since joining the Saints and he’s someone that takes advantage of weak secondaries (watch last week’s game against the Panthers for further clarification). This is something that could hurt the Chiefs’ chances of winning this one, as Kansas City has an incredibly young secondary this year.

We witnessed Ben Roethlisberger torching D.J. White just a few weeks ago and it wasn’t pretty. If Big Ben has the ability to do that, just imagine what Brees and his endless amount of weapons will be able to do. That’s a terrifying thought.

Among those weapons are guys like Brandin Cooks, Willie Snead, rookie Michael Thomas, and tight end Coby Fleener. There’s also running back Mark Ingram, who yes, is still in the league.

On the other hand though, the Saints really haven’t seen a defense quite like Kansas City’s yet. Through five games, they’ve faced the Raiders, Giants, Falcons, Chargers, and Panthers. All five of those teams are known for their offensive talent more so than their defensive talent.

This gives Kansas City an edge for sure, but Drew Brees is never to be taken lightly. He’s a Super Bowl champion, nine time Pro Bowler, and has the ability to carry his team to victory every week.

If the Chiefs can hold Brees and his offense to under 20 points, then they’ll be in prime position to run away with this one. It’s entirely possible too, as they held the Oakland Raiders to just ten points a week ago.

The Raiders were flourishing on the offensive side of the ball and the Chiefs slowed them down. Now a home game against a team with a bad defense should bring a lot of momentum for our Kansas City Chiefs, whether they’re facing a Hall of Fame quarterback or not.

Let’s hope for a Chiefs victory in this one because the team will need to keep the win streak going throughout the “easier” portion of the schedule coming up.
