The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the New York Jets on Sunday in what was considered to be a “must-win” game for the Chiefs. The defense was hungry, collecting six interceptions and forcing two fumbles en route to a 24-3 victory.

Hooray for victory Monday in Kansas City!

The Kansas City Chiefs ran away with the victory in a 24-3 defensive rout of the New York Jets. The secondary intercepted Ryan Fitzpatrick SIX times and the defense as a whole held New York to only a field goal all game long.

While the offense only put up ten of the 24 points, they looked a hell of a lot better than they did last week against Houston. Though, to be fair, that’s not really saying much.

Let’s take a look at what was good, what was bad, and what was ugly in this weekend’s game against the Jets.

Good: Secondary

I mean, this has to be considered good, right? The KC Chiefs secondary picked off Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick SIX times, with three of them being in the end zone.

The first interception came in the first quarter, with Marcus Peters picking off Fitzpatrick in New York territory. The interception led to the lone Chiefs touchdown of the day.

The second and third interceptions came in the end zone when the Jets were driving. Eric Berry had one and Marcus Peters had his second of the day.

The last three were picked off by Daniel Sorensen, Derrick Johnson, and D.J. White. Johnson’s interception was actually a pick six.

KC’s secondary also held the Jets to under 200 yards receiving. That’s crazy considering all of the talented wide receivers the Jets have on their roster.

Considering how worried Chiefs fans were about the secondary this season (myself included), this game was a sigh of relief. Picking any quarterback off six times is a great sign, and if the KC secondary can continue to be interception machines, then we could be good to go down the stretch.
