The Kansas City Royals have an offensive superstar in the making, at least at Target Field. The Minnesota Twins wish they had Salvador Perez on their team.

Kansas City Royals catcher, Salvador Perez, can do it all. He throws out base runners, hits for power, calls great games for pitchers and much more. The man from Venezuela does it with a smile.

The grin gets even bigger at Target Field: for him, the Kansas City Royals organization and their fans. Perez is slashing .750/.769/1.333 in 12 plate appearance at the Minnesota Twins home ballpark this season. He must love the pitch black batters eye behind the centerfield wall a lot.

Perez smashed nine hits. Of those hits he’s got: two doubles, a triple and a home run. He also added four RBIs (Runs Batted In) and a walk.

Before this season, Perez’s numbers were great over a three-year span at Target Field. He slashed .330/.353/.571 in 112 at bats in Minnesota. He received 37 hits, six double, seven home runs and three walks from 2013 through 2015 seasons.

The KC Royals have six more games in Minnesota this season. The Twins are 46 and 69 in 2016. The Kansas City Royals have a chance to make up ground in the division and the Wild Card standings starting this weekend.

The Royals are four games under .500. The team is ten games back of the American League Central leading, Cleveland Indians and 6.5 games back in the Wild Card race.

The home vs. away splits is something that needs to be addressed if the Royals hope to make a late season playoff push. Kansas City is 19 games below .500 on the road at 19 and 38 for a miserable winning percentage of .333.

The Royals have been outscored on the road by 73 runs this season. Winnings steaks have been hard to come by thanks to the lack of road success  in 2016.

The KC Royals suffered 21 blowouts this season. A blowout is defined as losing a game by five runs or more. That’s not a good stat for the “Boys in Blue”.

Salvador Perez and company hope to start a winning streak on the road against an improving Twins team.

The Minnesota Twins have done well as a team the last 14 games. The Twins team triple slash line is .302/.362/.543. The team got hot and fast. Minnesota went 5 and 5 in the last ten games played.

The three game road series won’t be easy for the KC Royals but the Royals have Salvador Perez and the Twins don’t.

Hopefully Perez and company will take at least two out of three against the rivals from the north. If Kansas City pulls that off, the squad will stay alive in the playoff race.
