KC Chiefs Well Represented In NFL Top 100 Players

facebooktwitterreddit

The KC Chiefs are not America’s team, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have quality players on their roster. So far, the NFL Top 100 Players has seen six members of the Chiefs appear on the countdown.

With all of the talent that the Kansas City Chiefs have on their loaded roster, you’d think analysts would be giving them more credit in the 2016 season. That’s just how the NFL is though. The Chiefs aren’t the Patriots or the Seahawks, meaning they’re not discussed.

So far, however, the NFL’s Top 100 Players of 2016 – a ranking based on what NFL players themselves think – has six members of the KC Chiefs on their countdown, and we’re only through number 71 on the list.

As of now, the six Chiefs who have appeared on the list are:

More from Kansas City Chiefs

Wow! It’s incredible to see six Chiefs already appear on the list, and it’s actually pretty cool to see Smith make the countdown this year. That shows that his peers in the pros really respect him as a quarterback, something that about half of Kansas City still hasn’t been able to say.

When you take into consideration that the countdown is ONLY to number 71, that’s pretty impressive for the Kansas City Chiefs. We still haven’t seen the big names like Eric Berry, Justin Houston, Marcus Peters (who has to be a gimme on the list, right?), or Dontari Poe appear yet, but there’s a whole lot of countdown left.

Out of the guys who were already revealed on the rankings, half appeared on the list last year. Hali dropped from number 70 last year, Maclin appeared at number 61, and Charles plummeted from number 12.

Charles’ appearance on the list is a little surprising, considering he missed all but five games of the season with a torn ACL, but it just goes to show you how well respected he is in this league. He was on pace for another terrific season, which likely was taken into consideration by the players.

Out of the newcomers, we’ve already mentioned Smith, but Kelce is making his first appearance on the countdown as well. Kelce had a breakout “second” season in 2014, but didn’t make the cut. This year, he barely squeaked by, but expect him to slowly climb his way into relevance on this countdown.

With 70 more spots yet to be revealed, what other Chiefs will we see on the NFL Top 100 Players?
