The MLB is giving the KC Royals every opportunity to show the world their championship status. A special uniform will keep that going on opening day.

The MLB already let the Royals show of their championship status to everyone during Spring Training this year. They’re currently sporting a crown that sits atop the KC logo on their Spring Training hats.

When the Royals kick off the regular season in just nine days, they’ll be draped in championship memorabilia again. Not only will they raise their banner and receive their World Series rings in the opening series, they’ll dawn uniforms that are covered in gold.

The jersey contains gold lettering across the chest and gold numbers on the back of the uniform. The hat itself will also have gold within the logo ‘KC’ and a gold ‘World Series Champion’ logo on the side of the hat.

They became available for purchase by fans yesterday and people were a little excited about it. Here’s some great fan reaction to the Royals new gear.

I especially like the last tweet. As a Royals’ hat collector myself, that’s pretty much how it goes every time they release a new hat. Everyone has their vices and mine happens to be hats.

This hat will be the highlight of many people’s collections including myself. It’s more than just a hat. It’s a symbol of just how special the 2015 season was.

More from KC Kingdom

It’s hard to look back and reflect on the 2015 season without thinking golden thoughts. There’s not a lot that went wrong for the Royals last year and the things that did were washed away by winning. Gold has a funny way of replacing bad feelings.

What makes these new uniforms especially sweet is for whom they’ll be showcasing these new uniforms. The Royals may not have a distaste for the large majority of the Mets, but there’s at least one that leaves a sour taste in their mouth.

Noah Syndergaard drew the ire of Mike Moustakas and the rest of the Royals when he targeted Alcides Escobar with the first pitch of game three. He made matters worse by waffling on the issue.

Prior to the start of the game he said “he has a few tricks up his sleeve” to get the Royals off their game. Then during the game he told Salvador Perez that he hadn’t done it intentionally (To be fair I wouldn’t want Yordano Ventura thinking I had thrown at his teammates either). They after the game he said if the Royals took issue with the pitch that they could ‘meet him 60′ 6″ away’.

The Royals get a chance to face him again in the second game of this series. Hopefully, they jump all over him. If he looks to throw one high and tight, and he may, don’t expect the Royals to be as cordial. They won’t mind getting a little dirt on those jerseys.
