KU Basketball: Where To Watch Jayhawks Vs Chaminade

facebooktwitterreddit

The KU basketball team plays Division II opponent Chaminade tonight in Maui.

The Kansas Jayhawks take on the Chaminade Silverswords in the third game of the day today in the 2015 Maui Jim Maui Invitational in Hawaii. The Jayhawks lost to Michigan State 79-73 last week in its second game of the season.

Chaminade hosts the tournament and represents Chaminade University of Honolulu. If Kansas (1-1) wins tonight, they’ll take on the winner of UCLA versus UNLV in the late game tomorrow evening.

The Jayhawks will be without junior Brannen Greene after he was suspended for six games for conduct detrimental to the team following the Michigan State loss. They’ll also be without freshman Cheick Diallo, although Diallo did travel with the team.

It looks to be a solid field this year at the Maui Invitational, drawing Danny Manning’s Wake Forest team, Chris Mullin and St. John’s, Tom Crean and Indiana, Kevin Stallings and Vanderbilt and Steve Alford and UCLA. If things go to plan, the Jayhawks will play tonight, tomorrow night and Wednesday night in the Championship round.

This is primetime, so you can watch the game at home on ESPNU. If not, you can watch the KU Basketball live stream on WatchESPN, which delivers live access to many ESPN events if you have the proper credentials. In any other case, you’ll likely have to find a different spot to watch the KU Basketball take on the Silverswords.

Fran Fraschilla and Sean McDonough will call the game on ESPNU, while KU’s Bob Davis and Greg Gurley will call the game for Jayhawk Radio Network.

It should be a nice breath of fresh air for Kansas. They left Chicago and the Champions Classic with a bitter taste in its mouth after getting outplayed by Michigan State in the second half. A quick mid-week tournament gives them a chance to get two, maybe three consecutive victories before the holiday weekend.

Bill Self talked about how difficult it can to stay focused on basketball while you’re a visitor in Hawaii, according to KUSports.com’s Gary Bedore:

"“The things you do when you aren’t playing is what gives you a chance to win, which is getting treatments (for aches, pains), getting off your feet and staying focused,” Self said. “That’s not the easiest thing to do when you look out your window and all you see is blue (Pacific Ocean).“Everybody of course will want to be down on the beach. You have to limit their activity until the tournament is over,” he added."

Kansas is 2-0 all-time against Chaminade. Oh, and Chaminade is 0-2 this season and allowing 102 points per game. Without Greene and Diallo in the lineup, Kansas will have plenty of opportunities for its bench bodies to contribute tonight against an over-matched Chaminade team.

It’s the fifth time the Kansas basketball team has played in Maui, and it should be quite a week of games all-around given the talent level at this tournament. How do you think the Jayhawks stack up for the 2015 Maui Invitational?
