KU Basketball: Where To Watch Jayhawks vs Northern Colorado

facebooktwitterreddit

The KU basketball team opens regular season play tonight against the Northern Colorado Bears.

The Kansas Jayhawks begin the regular season tonight at Allen Fieldhouse, fresh off of a 95-59 victory there Tuesday night. Kansas held the opponent to 32.3 percent shooting from the field, and hope to do the same tonight against Northern Colorado.

Last game, Devonte’ Graham led the team in minutes with 27, while Perry Ellis, Frank Mason III, Wayne Selden Jr. and Svi Mykhailiuk each logged at least 21 minutes.

Mason had six assists and zero turnovers, Ellis added 16 points and six rebounds, and yet the Jayhawks scored only 36 points all night in the paint. They did shoot 10-of-21 from the three-point line.

Tonight is the final tune-up before Kansas takes on Michigan State in the Champions Classic in Chicago on Nov. 17. Kansas is ranked No. 2 in the country in the Sports Illustrated’s Top 20 Preseason poll, while MSU is ranked No. 15.

KU Basketball Live Stream: ESPN 3

Similar to last time, you can watch the game at home if you are a subscriber of Time Warner, Comcast, or WOW! (Lawrence). If not, you can watch the KU Basketball live stream on ESPN 3, unless you live in Kansas or Western Missouri, where the game is blacked out, and then you’ll have to find a different spot to watch the Jayhawks.

It’s game one of the regular season, and there’s no word on freshman Cheick Diallo. Kansas begins the season with no timeline on the 19-year-old Malian big man, and it will be on the rest of the roster to pick up his minutes early on.

According to Gary Bedore of KUSports.com, the attorney Diallo has hired, Don Jackson, is confident that Diallo will play for Kansas this season:

"“There’s no reason as to why he wouldn’t (play in games). I think that’s almost a certainty. A timeline? That will be determined over the next day or so. Candidly, at a certain point, when it becomes quite clear that all administrative possibilities have been exhausted, then legal action becomes more of a possibility,” Jackson added."

Fellow freshman Carlton Bragg and senior Hunter Mickelson could be among those who see extra minutes while the Diallo situation is sorted out.

It will be tough finding minutes this season, as Bill Self returns a deep foundation of veteran talent. If Kansas can get contributions from its freshman, and see a higher-level of play from Mickelson, Landen Lucas and Jamari Traylor, the Jayhawks will be a tough out this season.
