Kansas State Wildcats: Tyler Lockett Dazzles In NFL Premiere

facebooktwitterreddit

Kansas State Wildcats alum Tyler Lockett is already doing big things in the NFL and he just had his first piece of NFL action on Friday night.

Tyler Lockett, a member of the Seattle Seahawks, returned a kick 103 yards for a touchdown and later returned a kick 46 yards. The Seahawks did not have a true special teams playmaker last season and it’s safe to say that Lockett has made his case for being said player.

The Seahawks traded third, fourth, fifth, and sixth round picks to the Redskins in order to move up to draft Lockett in this year’s draft. He was taken 69th overall (third round) and will be a fun guy to watch. Not only is Lockett going to one of the best teams in the NFL, but he’s already showcased what he’s capable of doing and we’re only one preseason game into the NFL season.

The above vine does not show the entire touchdown run, but it does show a good chunk of it. It also shows Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll getting barreled into by a referee. That’s what you get for being on the white line I guess.
Here is another vine of the same kickoff that shows a little more of what Lockett was able to do.

I think what makes all of this even more sweeter is that Lockett scored his first touchdown and ran all over the field against the Broncos. That’s got to make every Chiefs fan smile, especially since many are still upset that the Chiefs didn’t draft him.

  • Anyone in the Kansas City area should not be surprised by this though. Lockett was exceptional in the return game during his four years with the Kansas State Wildcats. He had four kickoffs returned for touchdowns and two punts returned for touchdowns during that span.

I imagine Lockett will see some time in the receiving game too, as the Seattle Seahawks don’t have a ton of wide receivers on their roster who are “big name guys”. They’ve always been similar to the Chiefs in that regard, but Lockett should be able to quickly get open for Russell Wilson.

Even though he’s not a member of the Chiefs, Wildcat fans should still enjoy watching Tyler Lockett every week this season. He’ll be a big star in the NFL and it’s cool that he is a local guy and is giving Kansas State a good reputation.
