With the 2015 NFL Combine going on, people everywhere will get a good look at most of the 2015 NFL Draft prospects and mock drafts will continue to pour out. My Co-Editor Leigh Oleszczak and I have been alternating mock draft releases, and her most recent mock draft had the KC Chiefs focusing on the offense.

I completed this week’s mock draft using Fanspeaks On the Clock feature and took a slightly different approach than Leigh. I drafted to fill the KC Chiefs’ most glaring weaknesses. It’s no secret that the Chiefs need help on both sides of the ball, so lets see how things turned out.

Round 1, Pick 18

Most of the projections for the Kansas City Chiefs first round selection are centered around the wide receiver position, but it could easily be argued that the Chiefs need an offensive lineman, or three, more than they need a wide receiver.

Coming in at 6’4″ tall and weighing 305 lbs., La’el Collins has the size to be successful in the NFL. Though he still needs to hone his technique and learn to better control his body there are a lot of things that he already does well.

"Collins sports a thick, powerful frame that makes him about as difficult to move as a chest freezer. His frame belies his quick feet, an attribute that when combined with his long arms, impressive strength and aggression make him a devastating run blocker. Collins is often the quickest of LSU’s offensive linemen off the snap and he routinely drives his assignment off the line of scrimmage with pure power, creating easy running lanes for LSU’s backs. -Courtesy of Rob Rang of CBS Sports"

Collins is currently listed as the third best offensive tackle in the 2015 NFL Draft, and the 13th best prospect overall so he would need to fall a little in the draft for the Chiefs to have a chance at selecting him, but it is not inconceivable to believe he will be available at 18.
