NUMBER FIVE

Every year, Adidas provides its schools with a tournament uniform. Some are much better than others. Does anyone recall the hideous neon camouflaged-themed unis from the 2013? They were not attractive, and Kansas only worn theirs for the one game in which they were contractually obligated to do so.

This year’s post season uniforms were much more toned down. They weren’t a bad-looking uniform, and were much more subtle than last year’s model.

The most prominent feature was the mesh-like shoulders, where the Jayhawks’ second team color, crimson, was display. It look as if it was a patch of red fabric, covered by a white mesh, so the red would show through.

The mesh with the underlying red wasn’t very obvious unless there was a close up of a player. It was a very quiet nuance.

These uniforms had plain white shorts with some blue trim around the bottom of the leg. The lack of any piping gave them a rather plain appearance. There was a patch of the mesh on both legs but it did not stand out very well.

It is a rather uninspired uniform altogether. Maybe Adidas just chose to go conservative after the camouflage uniforms from the year before. They weren’t ugly, just boring.

It didn’t help any that Kansas played rather poorly in these uniforms, and were ousted early in both the Big 12 Conference Tournament and the NCAA Tournament. If Kansas wins a few more post season games, these uniforms might rank a place or two higher.
