Kansas City Chiefs: Ranking AFC West quarterbacks at the halfway point
If Drew Lock had been healthy all season, the fight for No. 4 would have been tougher, but he missed a month due to injury so his numbers aren’t where the other quarterbacks’ stats are. It hasn’t been the season that Broncos fans were hoping for when it comes to Lock, but he just turned 24 on Tuesday and has only made 11 starts as an NFL quarterback.
In other words, Lock hasn’t had enough time to prove himself yet. His numbers this season aren’t great, as he’s thrown for 1,240 yards, six touchdowns, and six interceptions with another two rushing touchdowns. Again, Lock has only made six starts this year, so we still haven’t seen enough starts to make a decision about him yet.
The Broncos made it a point to add offensive weapons for Lock this year, so he doesn’t have that excuse anymore. Denver was hit pretty hard with injuries prior to and during the season and the team as a whole is pretty young, so those are definitely things holding Lock back this year.
Lock wouldn’t be the worst quarterback in some divisions, but the AFC West is getting better under center, so he sits here. He and Carr will likely move back and forth between the No. 3 and No. 4 spots, but this seemed like the right ranking for Lock.
Best game – Week 8 vs Chargers (26 of 41, 248 yards, 3 TD, INT)
Worst game – Week 6 vs Patriots (10 of 24, 189 yards, 2 INT)
How would you rank the quarterbacks in the AFC West?
