Bashaud Breeland is suspended for the first month of the season, meaning the Chiefs are left thin at the cornerback position. Charvarius Ward was going to be one of the starters, but who would be across from him? That was one of the main topics of conversation regarding the Chiefs this offseason and we finally got our answer to that question.

It was a bit surprising to hear that fourth round rookie L’Jarius Sneed was going to get the CB2 spot across from Ward over Rashad Fenton, but the kid did well in his NFL debut! I was very impressed with the Louisiana Tech product, as it’s not easy to shut down Deshaun Watson, but he did just that for the majority of the game.

Watson went after Sneed from the start, but was denied time and time again. In the fourth quarter, Sneed finally got to have the last laugh, intercepting Watson’s pass, which was essentially the nail in the coffin for the Texans.

All in all, Sneed finished his NFL debut with three tackles, two passes defensed, and one interception. Not bad for a fourth round rookie.

Hopefully this is only the beginning for L’Jarius Sneed and he can continue to be a heavy contributor for this defense moving forward.
