Three KC Chiefs who are surprisingly still on the roster in 2020
KC Chiefs Surprisingly Still on Roster – Number 2: Dorian O’Daniel
Dorian O’Daniel was a third round pick (100th overall) in the 2018 NFL Draft and had a stellar college career at Clemson. That hasn’t translated to the NFL, as O’Daniel has all but vanished during his two seasons in the pros.
KC Kingdom’s Shade Piper wrote an article on the whereabouts of O’Daniel a couple of months ago and had this to say about the Clemson product,
"Then came 2019 and fans thought “okay surely this is the year we get to see O’Daniel turn into the coverage linebacker we have been longing for.” Wrong. He barely played a snap on defense probably due to lacking the size that new Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo requires at the position."
O’Daniel had experience as both a linebacker and as a safety, but he hasn’t been able to find a role defensively for the Chiefs. He’s mostly a special teams guy at this point and has done well there, which is the reason he’s still on the team.
Well, that paired with the fact that he was a third round pick and it’d be crazy to give up on him so quickly. The 2020 season will be O’Daniel’s final opportunity to prove himself and with no preseason games, it might be difficult for him to even make the roster honestly.
