RANKING 2019 REGULAR SEASON GAMES

NUMBER 15: WEEK 5 VS COLTS (19-13 LOSS)

After starting the year at 4-0, the Kansas City Chiefs had their first primetime game of the 2019 season, a home game against the Colts on Sunday Night Football. With the Colts facing some controversy at the quarterback spot and this game being at Arrowhead, many fans figured this would be a Chiefs blowout.

Instead, it resulted in the lowest amount of points the Chiefs have scored with Patrick Mahomes as their quarterback. What was even more frustrating was that the defense held Indianapolis to four field goals and the Chiefs could only muster one touchdown all night.

It just never felt like a game that the Chiefs were meant to win and that’s what landed it in the second to worst game of the regular season.

NUMBER 14: WEEK 6 VS TEXANS (31-24 LOSS)

One week later, the Chiefs hoped for redemption against a Texans team who was wishy washy. This game matched two of the NFL’s best young quarterbacks and they both delivered, though it looked like it’d be a blowout early on, as the Chiefs took a 17-3 lead in the first quarter.

From then on, it was a different story, however, as the Texans outscored the Chiefs 28-7 for the remaining three quarters. Mahomes and the Chiefs offense were in a rut and while many pointed to injuries being to blame in this loss, it really was just a gross game.

Similar to the Titans game, however, the Chiefs would extract their revenge on the Texans in the playoffs, letting them get a 24-0 lead in the AFC Divisional Round before steamrolling them from there.

NUMBER 13: WEEK 8 VS PACKERS (31-24 LOSS)

The Chiefs lost by a score of 31-24 twice in the span of three weeks, but the loss to the Packers wasn’t as bad as many had anticipated. The week prior, Patrick Mahomes was injured and it looked like he’d be missing an extended period of time. The first game he missed was against Green Bay, which was a Sunday night game at Arrowhead.

It was time for Matt Moore to step up and he did everything that was asked of him against the Packers and didn’t lose the Chiefs the game. This game had a lot of hype heading into the season (hence the Sunday night slotting) due to the historical background and the fact that it was supposed to pit Mahomes against Aaron Rodgers.

Instead, we got Moore vs Rodgers and obviously Rodgers was the better signal caller in that duo. Still – The Chiefs made a game of this and not a lot of teams without their franchise quarterback would be able to say they could do that.

Losing sucks, but out of all of their losses this past season, the L against the Packers was the least painful.
