3. Kenny Robinson, SAF St. Louis Battlehawks

Kenny Robinson could be somewhat of a trailblazer as the first player to play in the XFL with remaining college eligibility. He could create a new lane for players who would like to pursue options other than college until they are draft eligible.

Robinson is eligible for the 2020 NFL draft and is an excellent prospect. During the 2018 college football season, he led the Big 12 in passer rating against from the safety position. He is solid in run support, can tackle and is a ball hawk.

For these reasons, he would’ve likely been one of the top safety prospects in the nation had it not been for his dismissal from West Virginia for academic dishonesty. However, despite not playing college football season, he is still pretty high in some draft analysts’ safety rankings. He ranks tenth in Dane Brugler of The Athletic’s safety rankings (subscription required).

The Chiefs don’t necessarily need a safety this offseason, but Coach Spagnuolo loves safeties and gets creative with them, at times playing four safeties on the field together. Robinson could be the rare type of talent that you may be able to get as an undrafted free agent who could come in and contribute right away.

Adding to his academic troubles, he also had two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties in the Batllehawks’ week four match-up against the Seattle Dragons, so he does have some maturing to do. If he could have a good meeting with the Chiefs and prove that he is working on his issues, he is worth a look from the Chiefs.
