NUMBER FOUR – RYAN TANNEHILL (TENNESSEE TITANS)

I really wanted to put Ryan Tannehill higher on this list, but he’s not better than the other three AFC quarterbacks. Tannehill even being ranked this high is shocking enough, as he wasn’t even the Titans starter when the 2019 season kicked off. No one would have predicted months ago that he’d be the scarier quarterback to face over Tom Brady.

Tennessee decided to make a quarterback change after it was clear Marcus Mariota‘s better days were behind him and the move worked out beautifully. Tannehill struggled in his first true glimpse of action, but since then has been one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL. He finished the season with a 7-3 record, 2,742 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, and six interceptions.

The Titans are a scary team for a lot of reasons, but Ryan Tannehill is definitely a big factor in why they’re a playoff team and have a fair shot at knocking off the Patriots this weekend. He’d also be an intimidating name to Chiefs fans should these two somehow end up meeting in the playoffs (it’d have to be in the AFC Championship Game) due to what he did to them a few months back.

NUMBER THREE – DESHAUN WATSON (HOUSTON TEXANS)

Deshaun Watson can win games all on his own and that’s why he’s one of the better young quarterbacks in the league. While his Texans team around him is wildly inconsistent, Watson has the ability to beat teams both with his arm and with his legs.

It’s for this reason that Watson is ranked higher than Tannehill. His Texans beat Tannehill in week 15 and Watson’s numbers are better than that of Tannehill’s. As long as Deshaun Watson is healthy, the Texans have a chance, and that’s why he’s third on this list.

A lot of people are forgetting about the Texans in the playoffs and while I get as a team they’ve struggled, Watson shouldn’t be forgotten. If the Chiefs end up seeing him in the divisional round, we’d know not to take him lightly, as he already defeated KC once this season.
