Start of the Week – Patriots Defense/Special Teams

Yes, I just got done listing all the awful offenses the Patriots have faced this season, but the Giants are no powerhouse either. Plus, New England’s defense is extremely deep and this start to the season is no fluke.

They put up 15 fantasy points last week and I expect that this week’s number will be somewhere around there. The Patriots have 94 total fantasy points for the year, that’s more than any tight end this year. This unit is special, something a lot of people expected.  As CBS Boston relays the “defense is as good as the stats suggest.”

The Giants put up ten points against a Vikings team that gave up more than that to Chase Daniel the week prior. Daniel Jones can only do so much as a rookie and while getting Golden Tate back last week was big, he still isn’t quite mid-season form with three catches for 13 yards.

Combine this with the fact that Saquon Barkely could still be out, along with Wayne Gallman, who went down with a concussion, this screams double-digit fantasy points to me for the fifth week in a row.

At home, in a primetime game, I’d imagine this team will get a boost from the crowd as well. If Barkely sits, this will be a top-three play again in week 6.
