Troy’s Blace Brown was a popular name to Chiefs before draft, could he be an option now to come in?

Blace Brown was a well-thought of prospect that some believed could be a day three selection and eventual contributor on the football field before he ran the 40-yard dash. Needless to say, when a player runs a 4.7, it’s hard to feel good about a prospect.

Going undrafted, Brown has traveled for various workouts, but has yet to find a home. With a group of young and unproven corners on the roster, could Brown find himself in the competition?

Brown suffered an ACL tear before his 2018 senior campaign, and his inconsistent play combined with poor testing numbers pushed Brown to the undrafted ranks. A wide receiver coming to Troy, Brown performed well for the Sun Belt Conference program, coming up with a game winning interception of the program’s upset win over LSU two seasons ago.

Brown is bigger and more technically sound than the aforementioned Cheevers, but probably not as athletic. Going into the draft process, Brown looked like a player that could perhaps be a ‘next Charvarius Ward‘.

While I don’t see that comparison happening anymore, maybe Brown can come and in join in the group of young corners competing for roster spots in 2019 and hopefully to provide depth at a minimum going forward.
