Week 8 – Aaron Rodgers

There’s no question that Aaron Rodgers already has and will continue to leave his mark as one of the NFL’s all-time greats. Any team that faces Rodgers regards him as a quarterback that’s able to lead the team to victory in any given game.

He has everything that an elite caliber quarterback should have  – a cannon-like arm that makes throws with accuracy and precision, a mind to read everything that’s in front of him, the ability to extend plays with his legs, and maybe most importantly, the ability to remain cool under pressure.

After some struggles with injury, a few less-than-successful seasons, and a change in head coaches, Rodgers and the Packers are looking to get back on track as one of the league’s premier teams.

  • One of the ways that they’ll look to do that is to march into Kansas City and walk out with a victory. It’d be great to think that the noise at Arrowhead will present a challenge to the quarterback, but with ice coursing through his veins, it may not quite work that way.

By the halfway point in the season, Rodgers and company will likely have established some sort of solid ground under new head coach, Matt LaFleur. While hiring LaFleur may pan out to be a bad decision, it may also have the same result that the Los Angeles Rams had in hiring Sean McVay. Could the young head coach and his swagger-filled veteran quarterback have what it takes in year one to give the Chiefs all they can handle?

While the Packers spent two picks in the first round of this year’s draft to beef up the defense, they didn’t look past adding a potential playmaker for Rodgers in drafting tight end, Jace Sternberger.

Pairing the rookie tight end with veteran tight end, Jimmy Graham, may prove to be a big advantage for Rodgers. While wide receiver Randall Cobb left for Dallas, the Packers still maintain a receiving threat in Davante Adams, who has the potential to be the league’s top receiver.

With the hopes that the KC Chiefs defensive line can put the pressure on Rodgers, it may limit his ability to exploit the question marks on a young cornerback group. And Kansas City’s faster linebacker group will hopefully be able to contain the former Super Bowl MVP from making plays with his legs.

Ultimately, the game may come down to a quarterback showdown for the ages and thankfully, this one will be played in front of the home crowd.
