JERSEY NUMBERS WORTH RETIRING

#68 – WILL SHIELDS

Will Shields had everything a fan could want in a football player: Hall of Fame talent that should have gotten in the first ballot, a work ethic second to none, Man of the Year and is still active in the community.

Shields played all 14 years of his career in Kansas City and once he made his first start, he didn’t miss a single one. He is a 12-time Pro Bowler, three-time First-Team All-Pro, four-time Second-Team All-Pro, an All American and Outland Trophy winner (College’s best interior Offensive Lineman).

In other words, Shields was a beast. He was a part of that incredible offensive line in the 2003 season that has remained as one of the best units in league history. Quite frankly, it’s baffling that Shields’ jersey hasn’t been retired already.

Shields is still active in the area where he runs 68 Inside Sports, an indoor gym and sports facility in Overland Park, Kansas.
