TIGHT END OPTIONS IN FREE AGENCY

NUMBER 5 – JAMES O’SHAUGHNESSY

For those who may not remember, James O’Shaughnessy was actually drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round in the 2015 NFL Draft. He hailed from a smaller school in Illinois State, but he seemed liked a promising prospect.

Instead, O’Shaughnessy never got going in KC. What I’ll point to here is that the quarterback situation is completely different now and O’Shaughnessy would surely see more than the 12 targets he saw come his way in two seasons as a Chief.

O’Shaughnessy was traded to the Patriots after the 2016 season, but never played with them. He spent 2017 and 2018 with the Jaguars and had one touchdown with them in two years at the helm.

While O’Shaughnessy’s stats aren’t eye popping, he’s played for the Chiefs organization before and would definitely be more involved now that Patrick Mahomes is quarterbacking the offense. He’s not a flashy name, but he’d be a cheap option who is familiar with Kansas City, so it’s something to look into for sure.
