Miles Sanders, Penn State

Every draft and every position has a favorite of value and talent.

Running backs often fall in areas like this and Miles Sanders is a favorite if he is on the board for the Chiefs in round three. After spending the past couple seasons as the backup to Saquon Barkley, Sanders started this past season for the Penn State team and looked good doing so. After posting 1,274 rushing yards this past season while nabbing 24 passes, Sanders entered the draft.

Not yet fully refined as he only started one season after being a backup for two seasons, Sanders can do a lot of things well, but isn’t great at anything in specific. He can at times try to make the big play, bouncing outside when nothing is there.

Still working his way into the speed of the college game on a consistent basis, Sanders can catch the ball, willingness to block in the passing game, along with quickness, balance and some acceleration. He may not be a ‘workhorse’ back early, but can be a player to find a role in year one.

The Chiefs are going to need to find help on defense, and players that can contribute early so a running back likely gets pushed down the list. Sanders needs some work but there is a lot there to work with.

Former five star recruit coming out of high school, Sanders is the type of player that could really emerge in coming years for the Chiefs while working his way into the rotation as a rookie.
