MOST DISAPPOINTING CHIEFS IN 2018

NUMBER FOUR – TANOH KPASSAGNON

Perhaps no younger player has been more disappointing in 2018 than Tanoh Kpassagnon. In his second season in the NFL, the Villanova Wildcat product created a total of four tackles and was a healthy scratch at the end of the season. Simply put, four tackles and no sacks is not a good way to build a defense.

Selected as a defensive tackle, the oversized Kpassagnon (6’7″, 290 pounds) was moved to outside linebacker during mini camps and training camp of his rookie season. After starting the last week in the game against Denver in 2017, Kpassagnon has barely been seen again.

For his career, through two seasons, he has recorded 18 tackles. As a second year player that the organization and defense needed a breakout year from, the simple inability to find the field is a really bad omen for his professional future.

Perhaps the Chiefs will move him down to the defensive line to provide depth at multiple positions along the defensive line. He will have a cap hit under 1.2 million (1.178 million), so it’s unlikely he is released, at least not until cut down day before the start of the 2019 season.

At this point, hopefully Kpassagnon can provide defensive depth for the next two season before his contract expires.
