GOOD: DEFENSE

For this slide, we’ll do something a little different. The defense as a whole was good, but here are some players that really caught my attention in a good way.

  • Chris Jones – This dude was on fire on Saturday! It seemed like he was batting the ball down on every single play. If the Chiefs want to continue this run, Jones is going to have to continue to be this dominant. He was trucking all night long.
  • Dee FordCris Collinsworth said on the broadcast that the entire defense impressed him, but Dee Ford was the star of the night. Ford finished the game with four tackles, two hits on Andrew Luck, and a sack.
  • Justin Houston – When Justin Houston is on point, the Chiefs defense is on point. Houston had two sacks and had another two hits on Luck. He was excellent.
  • Charvarius Ward – The Chiefs allowed just six points on defense and only surrendered 203 yards through the air to Andrew Luck. Ward played a huge part in the secondary and considering he wasn’t on this team at the beginning of the year, his performance was impressive.
  • Jordan Lucas – Glad to see this kid getting some crucial playing time! Not having Eric Berry sucks, but Lucas played well on Saturday.

Also, let’s give the run defense some love. In an area that has been an eye sore for the Chiefs all season long, the unit gave up just 87 yards rushing. The Colts fell behind early, so turned to the air more, but that was the case a year ago and the Titans had no problem running it all night long.

When the opposing team had zero first downs for most of the first half, I’d say the Chiefs defense was doing something right. Good work here, Sutton.
