UGLY: SPECIAL TEAMS BLOCKING

This isn’t something I’d normally pay attention to at all, but it drew attention to itself on Saturday. The Chiefs were up 17-0 and looked to be cruising early on in this one, but the Colts got a break in the second quarter.

Forcing the Chiefs to punt for the first time in the first half, there was a wide open gap for a Colts defender to run through. He blocked Dustin Colquitt‘s punt and Zach Pascal recovered it in the end zone for six.

Later on, the Colts almost got another blocked punt, but fortunately it was ruled as running into the kicker and the Chiefs got an automatic first down there. Special teams typically aren’t a worry for the Chiefs, so let’s just chalk that blocked punt for a touchdown as a rare slip-up and move on.
