LOS ANGELES CHARGERS (FIVE SEED)

The five-seed is a team the Chiefs are very familiar with in the Los Angeles Chargers. It is rather unfortunate that a team who goes 12-4 can’t win their own division, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles. LA had every chance to win the division and home field advantage, but they couldn’t get the job done.

It might not be the worst thing in the world for the Chargers, however, as they tend to play better on the road, going 7-1 away from StubHub Center this year. They really don’t have a home field advantage at their soccer stadium and they’ve beaten good teams on the road, including the Seahawks, Steelers, and the Chiefs on the road with two of those wins coming in comeback fashion.

With their path to the Super Bowl likely having to come on the road, the Chargers could be a very dangerous team and not one that I’d like to see the Chiefs matched up against in the Divisional Round.

I’d argue that the Chargers are the most complete team with their offense at times looking unstoppable and their defense really shutting squads down. Over the last two weeks, Philip Rivers hasn’t looked as good and it’s been the defense that has bailed them out.

When both units are clicking and their kicking game isn’t a joke (which caused them problems early on), the Chargers have a very strong case as to why they’re the best team in the NFL, yet they landed as the five-seed.

They’ll have a chance to avenge one of their four losses in the Wild Card round when they travel to Baltimore for the early game on Sunday. The Ravens beat the Bolts in LA last time around, but the Chargers won’t forget losing that one. This game has the potential to be the best of the weekend.
