REINFORCEMENTS THIS SEASON

The Chiefs moved swiftly on Monday and signed old friend, Charcandrick West, to fill the vacancy on the running back depth chart. Kansas City released West last August after spending four seasons on the team. He has since bounced around the league, unable to grab a roster spot until Monday’s signing.

With the trade deadline already past, the option for the Chiefs to make a roster move in that fashion is no longer possible. That only leaves the signing of a free agent as an option this season and getting late into the season makes for a short list of available players.

On Monday, the Chiefs also brought former Denver Broncos running back, C.J. Anderson, in for a workout but in the end, decided to go with the player familiar with the system. That’s not a bad decision by any means.

Ultimately, Kansas City made the best decision they could moving into these last four games and the playoffs. It may not be the most exciting decision, but signing West brings in a player familiar with the system and one that is beloved in the Kingdom. Having him on the depth chart should help the team hold tight until the position can truly be addressed in the offseason.
