The 2016 season appeared to be KC’s best chance at winning a Super Bowl in the Andy Reid era, but heartbreak in the playoffs ensued once again. That was also the case in 2017, but not as many Chiefs fans were as surprised that time.

After the 2015 season, the biggest hurdle for the Chiefs to get over was to finally win the division. The Broncos had owned the AFC West dating back to the 2011 season and the Chiefs had yet to sniff a title since 2010.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs won the AFC West in both 2016 and 2017 and very well could make it three straight in 2018. Winning the AFC West is very much expected amongst the fans nowadays and anything less would be a disappointment honestly.

With Alex Smith in D.C. now and an entirely new look for the Chiefs on offense led by Patrick Mahomes, simply dominating the regular season isn’t going to cut it anymore. Chiefs Kingdom has now seen their team post six straight winning seasons (the win this past Sunday makes it official that KC will have a winning year in 2018) and it’s time to go beyond that.

This is the most consistently productive offense Chiefs fans have seen since the 2003 season with Trent Green and Priest Holmes at the helm. When your offense is as good as this year’s Chiefs team’s is, why shouldn’t fans be thinking Super Bowl?
